SkyFire - Browsing Made Easy | Mobile Application

The most useful feature for any phone these days beside its talking ability is the fact that you are connected to the World Wide Web from almost anywhere you are as long as your GSM or CDMA provider covers it under their network. From Wap to GPRS to EDGE and then fueled by the power of 3G speeds, technology have really outgrown our expectations the last few years. The wireless sector specially saw immense growth and even in our small, rebellious country called Bangladesh almost 5 crore people are using cell phones or smartphones. That’s a huge number considering we are a very poor country in terms of gross economy. Anyhow, the best thing is that the introduction of mobile gprs and Edge have really made it possible for people living in the most remote area now getting fast access to the internet. With that being said, in places like the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Finland etc the usage of mobile phone and the internet packet data is really vast and “ever green”.

However, one thing everyone lacked was the ability to surf from the phone via the entire HTTP mode. In simple words, most webpages which were previously not made for WAP connectivity and compatibility was completely inaccessible through cell phones. Then came Opera into the scene and changed everything about internet browsing from your mobile phones by introducing the phenomenal browser Opera Mobile. Symbian OS and Opera Mobile surely is the best combo one can expect from his or her Nokia right? I mean only Flash based content was missing!!!! Then the Nokia N95 was introduced and again internet browsing shifted gears for the better by having a full HTTP mobile based browser with “mouse type scrolling” built in and most importantly, the symbian engine built in the phone supported Flash Lite which is even more superb and made the scene quite complete. I really can’t thank Flash Lite and its developers enough for that honestly because I personally love the overall Flash Lite experience.

And now, we have SkyFire! What is SkyFire? SkyFire is a state of the art mobile and smartphones based browser which is completely free to use and share. It supports everything you can think of literally and the browsing speed is just quite awesome. I don’t know if you experienced it yourself but in my wife’s phone, the Nokia simply sometimes hung up because the web pages that were being loaded through Opera Mobile surpassed the Java heap memory that the phone provides. Quality rendering was always not an option simply because of this. But SkyFire really changes all that because SkyFire apparently uses an efficient and intelligent engine which seems to balance the load on the phone memory very well and the cache does not load up the phone’s “point of explosion” (..know what I mean.) Not only that with SkyFire you can be quite sure that you will see the web as if you are browsing from your laptop or desktop pc.

Though we do have streaming based applications like the MobiTubia or the EmTube for watching our favorite videos but did you still not wonder that, when it will be time for YouTube to be mobile browser friendly? Opera mobile 8.5 certainly did not support it and for a time being it seemed that this is how its gonna go on forever, stand alone application for watching You Tube videos in mobile. Wrong again!!! With SkyFire you will be able to watch your favorite videos from your soon to be favorite browser SkyFire. You can even browse Facebook in full mode and not only the Facebook mobile version and even with the new look enabled. Chaning rendering and browsing resolution is now only a click away in your Nokia phones!

With Skyfire the fun does not stop here! Skyfire also have a built in map database which they seemed to have acquired via a partnership with a GPS navigation provider like Google Maps or Nokia Maps or something. In simple words, you will be able to render live maps just like in Garmin Mobile or TomTom Navigator straight up. The features do not stop here honestly because the standard files download, low quality high quality mode, one click shortcuts, save page mode are also there. Seriously you Iphone Safari guys and Opera Mobile fanatics (..which actually includes me at times) really need to check this out if you haven’t already. This is quite a browser and I feel that it will seriously change the way we once thought we can browse from Nokia based devices or handsets. The rendering is exceptionally fast and so is the loading which is a real plus for this really complete mobile browser. The overall experience through SkyFire is simply superb!!

Skyfire is equipped to be compatible with all Nokia 3rd edition S60 N-Series and E-Series symbian phones including the Nokia N91, N92, N93, N95, N96, N78, N81, N80, N92, N73, N75, N76, N71, E50, E61, E62, E65, E60, E66, E70, E71, E90, 6120, 6121, 5700 Xpress Music, 5500, 5710, 3250, 6110, 8800 Sirocco and Luna etc and more. All major GPRS, EDGE and 3G networks like the AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Orange Mobile Uk, Virgin Mobile, Telstra, T-Mobile, Optimus, Vodafone, Sprint, Rogers, Airtel, Cingular, Hutch, Digi etc are well supported. Also the Windows Mobile based PDA phones are supported too. I am quite sure that you will love this browser and so I hope that you will subscribe to my feeds because I will be most happy if you do. Enjoy your day peeps and always please comment and leave your thoughts!! Cheers!

Free Symbian Anti Virus Collections | Applications

Greetings occupants! Whether you are using a music phone with a 8gb memory limit or a phone with 256 mb card, virus sucks! Are you not sick of the virus that’s sending SMS or MMS messages from your phone without you knowing what exactly is happening? Are you not tired of your friends telling you that you and your Nokia sucks cause last night I received a SMS from you and when I opened it, I was ‘virus-fied’ too! I know, I once had a serious problem with the Cabir virus and all my friends and colleagues were going nuts cause they were telling me that I was sending them Bluetooth invites and sending them viruses! Being a Nokia freak myself, I was almost devasted by the accusations. So I had to do something about it!!!

And I did, I installed a free anti virus which immediately rectified the problem, deleted the virus, backed up the original file and made my day!! Ah that was quite a relief I must admit. Mobile virus can spread through GPRS (EDGE and 3G), WAP, Multimedia messaging or via Bluetooth and SMS. Keeping that in mind today I decided to enlighten you with a new collection of free mobile antivirus for Nokia 2nd edition and 3rd edition phones. Almost all of them will ensure that you can use them easily without messing up anything in your phone and will solve your virus issues of the symbian devices.

In this collection I am including the six top most anti virus applications ever released for smartphones and pda. The entire package includes F-Secure for Nokia, Jiangmin Anti Viral guard, Kaspersky Mobile Anti Virus, Net Qin for Nokia 3rd editions, Exo Virus Stop and the glorious Trend Micro Mobile Security. Almost all of them should work smoothly with your symbian handsets and will ensure complete safety. All of them also includes a firewall for intrusion detections via untrusted bluetooth connections. One anti virus even has SMS clean features which not only can block infected SMS but also can make your personal SMS vanish remotely in case your phone is lost or stolen. All of them also includes automatic database update through the mobile phone interface or via your laptop/pc. Via the use of a stand alone firewall you will be able to guard against background internet activity in your Nokia and thus stay safe from mobile spywares, spams and malwares. Easy to use and very light on the mobile flash memory you can be sure that either one of them will be of utmost use to you and your friends.

All the applications in this jam packed collection are tested with Nokia 3rd edition N-Series and E-Series S60 mobile devices like the Nokia N95, N93, N80, N91, N92, N96, N82, N81, N78, N73, N72, N76, N77, 6110, 6120, 6210, 6121, 8800 Sirocco, Luna, E50, E51, E60, E61, E62, E65, E70, E66, E71, 5500 Sport, 5700 Xpress Music, 5710, 5200, 6300, E90 etc and more. All the major GSM and CDMA carriers like AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile, Rogers, Telstra, Verizon Wireless, Cingular, Orange Mobile UK, Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, Digi, Telenor, Airtel, Orascom etc are also supported.

Please do share which one you liked the best and which one you truly hated! Also please subscribe to the RSS feed to keep yourself updated about the latest releases in Nokia Symbian Themes. Cheers and have a fantastic day peeps!

Nokia Maps 2 | Symbian Application Download

Showing you the way wherever you are, that’s what Nokia Maps offer you for your symbian 3rd edition smartphones. What I am bringing you today is something I know that a lotta of you folks have been wishing for so here it is, finally! So what is Nokia Maps? Well Nokia maps is Nokia’s official and finest GPS based, voice guided application developed mainly for the S40 and S60 N-Series and E-Series devices. It was previously in the beta stage and was secretly developed by the Research and Development division of Nokia before it was finally made public after it was confirmed to be stable.

More than 200 different countries and all their navigational details are supported and are also available to be downloaded straight for the Nokia official site. With a voice based guidance you can actually preplan your destination, find way points, restaurants and any special places on the go. You can save the data on the memory card for viewing later by the Nokia Maps Loader. This has its good uses as it will seriously reduce internet charges if you do the navigation from a WLAN based connection. You can easily tag any location for finding it easily in the future. As a driver you will have your very own navigational companion with Nokia Maps 2 as this one can instruct turn by turn of what’s next in the road. You can set the time interval, the voice clarity etc. Finding ATM machines to withdraw cash or to pay your credit card bills will never be the same with Nokia Maps 2 installed as it easily detects all the available ATM machines around your house and tell you exactly the easiest route to take!

There is also a built in search box which lets you search any place, tags etc on the go and its really easy to use it overall. The mapping itself is really pretty slick and simple, with almost all types of view available including a satellite view, a hybrid view, a 2D view and a 3D view. It also have a drive and walk navigation feature, loads of downloadable multimedia city guides which really will be very much useful for tourism purposes, and lots of other innovative and everyday features. Also if you have location tagging enabled then you can share pictures/images on Google earth and Flickr! And if you are a blogger like me, then hubba hubba… Nokia Maps 2 is just what you need!

This amazing GPS application is for you to download free once you have grabbed my RSS feed for free. This application comes built in with Nokia N95 8gb as much as I know but all other 3rd edition application which lacks this built in application can install and use it to their advantage. Mobile phones like Nokia N96, N95, N81, N82, N73, N93i, N80, N78, N77, N76, N75, N73, N72, N71, N70, E90, E70, E66, E71, E61, E62, E65, E60, E51, E50, 6300, 6290, 6220, 6210, 6121, 6110, 6120 and 5700/5710 Xpress Music are supported. Qeep | Multi player Gaming | IM | Nokia Application

So tell me something everyone, how do you Qeep? Lol. No no it sure is not a typo and actually today I am going to present you one of the finest and most feature packed application for mobile devices. For those who already have heard it all before, yes today I am featuring the social instant messenger called ‘Qeep’ (..love the name cause it sure is quite catchy!). For those who haven’t heard or used Qeep ever, well you better start using it right now or be left behind. So what exactly does Qeep offer which other similar, IM based application does not right? It is the same question I asked to myself when I heard about Qeep for the first time ever. Firstly, like many other IM based applications, Qeep is free! Like many other IM based mobile applications Qeep offers sending QMS (SMS of course lol) messages free! And like many other software, Qeep is lightweight and easy on the bills. There is a big plausible ‘but’ with Qeep though, Qeep lets you do a whole lot more than just IM-ing or stuff like that.

Qeep offers photo blogging, live chatting and the most terrific part of Qeep is “Multiplayer Gaming” on your smartphones! How much flash memory any application like this requires depends phone to phone but generally, they are all heavyweight champions and almost all of them immediately crashes when you are typing super fast like I do with the T9 dictionary on. Qeep however is super lightweight compared to all those other symbian or java based applications, Qeep consumes almost only half the memory compared to any other similar application if not any less so that’s a huge plus for any IM applications! I have been using it since last week to test it out and honestly I had doubts myself about the features and the size overall, but to my amazement, I must say that Qeep is really Qeeping me on my toes, but relaxed cause it hasn’t crashed even once. Can you imagine just how much flash memory does any other application like this consumes without even offering all these?  Since I am a blogger I really dig the fact that it offers photo blogging on the go, no other application have that feature and honestly speaking I always had to shut off my IM application before opening up Opera Mobile to post in the blog (not this blog though). But with that application I already can actually launch and browse the web at the same time with Opera, though I actually don’t need to cause I can blog through the Qeep interface but I just had to test it out myself. I usually like lightweight IMs which just serves my purpose and keeps my bill under control, so I never was a fan of resource hoggers kinda applications (not naming any though, I am sure you all can guess) and needed a Java based platform which I can actually keep open and running in the background when I am browsing the web. I also love the fact that you can send SMS on the go without actually involving your network SMS gateway. So the cost of SMS is really zero, you will be charged by your operator though for the GPRS, WAP, EDGE, 3G, UMTS HSDPA or whatever else is applicable in your case.

One of the most interesting features of Qeep is that you can actually play multiplayer games online with your friends. All the games are really simple but quite engaging to say the very least. And since you will be playing with or against your friends and foes, you can be pretty sure that it will be that damn hard to win which really makes it much more fun! I hate easy mobile games, I hate complicated but I absolutely love competitive games and almost all the games will test your skills, especially your Brain Department. You can chat and blog and play online mulitplayer mobile games and open Opera Mobile in the background and receive calls, send and receive sms all at once!! Multitasking? You bet it is with the Qeep factor lol!!! Anyway you do have to sign up for Qeep on their official website located at Qeep.net before you can actually sign in and start to make friends, registration is definitely free my friends. The community is really buzzing all the time and as much as I know they have more than 200,000 registered Qeepers (including me) who will surely be Qeeping you busy with Qeep! (Damn this word is catchy!). Within all my excitement, I now realize I have forgot to mention that with Qeep you can send “Qool Qounds” …err I meant ‘cool sounds’ lol. They are all really funny sounds, like the audio versions of the famous MSN “wink”. They will play on your friends handset if they kept the sound option activated as well.

Anyway, enough Qeeping from me for one day! May you all have an awesome time just like I am having with Qeep and do add me there as a friend if you can. This multi featured Instant Messenger will support all your N-Series or E-Series cell phones or pda, S60 or S40 or anything else you might be using. Since I am a Nokiddict, I am mentioning some of the Nokia phones which surely works with this one. Some examples are: Nokia N70, N91, N90, N92, N93, N95, N96, N78, E51, 6120, 3290, E65, 6600, 6600 Slide, 3230, 6680, 6681, N71, N72, N73, N75, N80, N81, N82, E90, E70, 6110 Navigator, Arte, Prism, E50, E60, E61, E62, E66, E71, 5700 Xpress Music, 5710, 5500 Sport, 5310, Nokia 5300 etc and a whole lot more. As much as I have seen it seems to work with all the network operators including AT&T Wireless, Sprint, Vodacom, Vodafone, T-Mobile (Prepaid plans and post paid plans), Virgin Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Telenor, Orange Mobile UK, Grameenphone, Airtel, etc. Feel free to download it and add me as well!

Do share your comments and point of views about Qeep here, I am hopeful that you will like it as well. And if you do like my blog and want to support my efforts, then please do subscribe to my newsletter or RSS feed via your favorite feed reader or simply via email. Cheerios, Qeep well and Godspeed!

NokMote | LightSabre | Nokia DJ | S60 Applications

Ahoy pirates and princesses!! Show me the gold I say aye!! Lol. Just kiddin’. One of the best part of Nintendo is the ability that you can control it with the help of your hands. Simply glide your fingers around and you will be in the menu, slide down and you are simply out of it. The touch sensitivity of WiiMote was so successful that they even introduced the Wiimote based guitar and handgun for playing games within like 3 months. Then the pda guys got it! Must say that till lately, the S60 Touch UI was almost non existent and Nokia didn’t seem to care much about it till the whole Barcelona thing. Anyway, today I am going to present you with three of the finest symbian mobile phone applications for your Nokia N95. Yes I am talking about the Nokemote, Nokia DJ and Lightsabre softwares.

They all have a resemblance in a way, they both are mainly developed for the market of the absent movement based touch UI of Nokia. Also not only that, they both are freewares! Too good to be true, I know. Also they are in beta stage of development but I must admit that they are good enough to be released already!

Nokmote converts your Nokia N95 a cloned version of the WiiMote and this lets you control its UI with hand movements, thus letting you enjoy the exclusive and enjoyable experience of iPhone or the Nintendo WiiMote. You can select menu, the messages, open up a message and send it all with the help of your hand. Every single menu becomes Touch Sensitive to say the least. Its quite fun at first, but more importantly, its user friendly when you have adapted its movements properly. You can say it is a different kind of the 3rd edition software Rotate Me which I published earlier.

A demo video should help you see what I am talking about so here it goes:

Nokmote Download

If you are a big time Star Wars fan then LightSabre is the perfect application for you. Just like the gruesome futuristic sounds of Darth Vader, LightSabre makes your Nokia groan and moan out with specific movements which you can almost assign. Its not useful by any means but rather a fun filled, experimental application or software. I am sure that in the future this particular application’s features and concept will play a big role in Nokia’s Aeon based smartphones.

A demo Video of LightSabre:

Lastly I am going to introduce to you one of the official and coolest Nokia application ever, Nokia DJ Mixer. Ringtones shingtones are old stuff peeps! Be your own DJ and mix up your favorite tracks all at once. This application is real fun to mess with and you should try it out at least once I tell ya. With Nokia DJ you will be able to mix all kinds of file types as long as they are of any audio format.

Nokia DJ Mixer

All these applications are compatible with Nokia N95 and needs the official accelerometer installed to work properly. This is what really makes the Nokia 95 the crown jewel of Nokia. It comes pre built with this particular motion based sensor technology. This particular technology officially made its way to the public by the introduction of the Nokia N95. Why in the freakin hell did Nokia kept it hidden, search me man!! Only a handful of application have made its way based on this sensor based technology, examples are Nokmote, FlipSilent, Shake Sms, The official Nokia N95 DJ, Car Inclinometer, Lightsabre etc. and some others. You can download the applications like ShakeSMS, Car Inclinometer, Shake Lock and FlipSilent in my mobile applications page or simply do a search of it in my blog using the search box below or to the right side.

Please remember to subscribe to my RSS feed before using these applications, that is all I ask and that is what makes my day! All 3rd edition feature pack 2 and above cell phones from NSeries and ESeries like the Nokia N95, N96, N78, E66, E71, N81, N82, E70, E51, N73, E65, E61, E62, etc should work with all these applications. Though the Nokia DJ Mixer only works with Nokia S60 N-Series devices and handsets like Nokia N73, N76, N80, N91, N92, N95, N93, N81, N82 etc. Also the applications are network independent and both HSPDA, 3G, EDGE based phones running on any GSM and CDMA network like AT&T, T-Mobile, Orange Mobile UK, Verizon Wireless, Hutchison, Vodafone, Vodacom, Airtel, Digi, Sprint, grameenphone etc should be able to work side by side with them installed.

Here is the accelerometer for Nokia phones as well:
