Great news I know and yes it is true that you can now enjoy some of the best and most advanced Palm OS powered softwares and games on your smartphone. Call filtering can be a real pain specially when your only number is being distributed to a group of nothing to do freaks and fiends. There is the option to turn on a very small flashing icon (its really small and blinks near the clock when there is a filtered SMS in your inbox and it is unread) which will let you to check the SMS after entering a password. Easy and fast mobile Internet connectivity and configuration are my basic needs from my Series 60 Nokia smart phones. Today I will talk about one of the newest symbian mobile application that has been introduced to the mobile software market, the Psiloc Connect. After the simple installation of Psiloc Connect was over with, it immediately made my life easier and helped me to connect with you my good friends who are visiting this Nokia themes portfolio mobile blog, but I will discuss that later on someday alrighty?

Before diving into the Psiloc Connect mobile application I want to personally share something with all of you. Today I got a call from another fellow Bangladeshi who is into the internet thingy and I came to know that he actually visited and liked my blog so much that he managed to find my cell phone number in some way and call me quite immediately. I was so surprised!! I got the proof of something I always believed in and am thankful for that to God once again. What I believe in is that: without the community’s comments, e-mails, RSS feed subscriptions, e-mail subscriptions, Facebook wall posts and other active participation I would never have been motivated to bloggify in the first place. Every single one of you who are reading this, please know that even though I might not manage to find the time to reply every single comment that you leave behind but I absolutely try and read every single one of them whenever I can. One of the many core advantages of using a Nokia mobile phone is its convenient compatibility with a wide range of computer or laptop hardware devices. We all dig the Internet more or less and I openly admit that I am one of the ‘more’ in that sentence. Yes, I am totally addicted to the world wide web or the Internet. Especially, I love to surf around and read articles, blogs, feeds etc using my cell phone’s Internet capability of accessing them through the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and GPRS (EDGE, 3G, WLAN etc). When the first mobile phone was introduced to the consumer market who would have thought that today true mobility will mean so many things at once? Taking it a step further is today’s Nokia software Psiloc Connect.

In one line if I had to describe the task of Psiloc Connect then I will probably say “by using Psiloc Connect on your Nokia smartphones you will be able to establish an easy and efficient connectivity to the web and through your mobile internet feature”. Automation is the key word nowadays for any business or individual and Psiloc Connect not only enhances your mobile automation but it also makes use of the available resources intelligently. With its built in engine able to differentiate between the existing speed of any available internet connection for your mobile, you truly will be one step ahead all the time. Nokia truly has done an amazing job by acquiring Symbian and Psiloc Connect uses that to its advantage.

Access Point Settings are one of the most difficult things to maintain and choose from on any Nokia smartphone or S60 handhelds. Nowadays we have 3G, EDGE, GPRS, WAP and of course the availability of WLAN integration with your Nokia phones, even 4G will arrive the scene for everyone in the mid of next year (One of the wireless mobile market leader Sprint has already introduced 4G mobile broadband Internet through the use of WiMax at some places though!!!). As good as it sounds trust me that it might turn out to be entirely different. The monthly phone bill is something which is limited up to a degree for any Nokia smartphones user and if you are tight on the money (like I am lol) and love to surf with Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, SkyFire or the built in Nokia WAP browser, then it can be quite heavy on the pockets. Psiloc Connect ensures that the available internet which is applicable with and for your Nokia smartphones are being efficiently utilized. It also ensures that you are not being annoyed every time you want to connect to the mobile Internet from your Nokia smartphones device.

With Psiloc Connect installed on your cell phone’s Symbian OS platform, you also will be able to save the mobile broadband internet usage costs significantly. When and if the WLAN connection is back it again switches itself back!! True automation? Heh! You bet!

iPhone on Nokia Symbian

After the official launch on Apple’s most popular product the Apple iPhone last year on the 9th of January 2007 just after the new Mac OS, a whole new market for this particular smartphone was born. That market have grown significantly over the last year and is still growing by the minute with the second version of the smartphone, iPhone 3G. Apple always focus on performance and features more than anything else and the best examples can be the iPod, the MacBook and of course the iPhone. Where is Nokia amidst all this? Why am I all of a sudden going from a Nokiaholic to an Apple geek?

Because today what I am about to publish has something to do with both of the iPhone and Nokia. After you read this post, download and install this mobile application on your Nokia symbian phones, you will not only feel that iPhone actually have a nice interface but if Nokia adopted a similar pattern with its symbian OS platform, it would have quite fantastic to say the very least. Don’t get me wrong, I will pick a Nokia N-Series or E-Series S60 smartphone any day of the week over an iPhone, but I do admit that the regular menu of iPhone is quite beautiful than the default symbian GUI, plus I love the Apple Mac!! Overall in terms of compatibility, user friendliness and the flexibility of the symbian operating system on any smartphones, Symbian wins hands down over iPhone.

The main appeal of the iPhone (beside the music) is its touch screen sensitivity and the ability of it to serve external interfaces as applications. There are Wordpress (the platform I am using for this blog, I love wordpress btw on a totally different note) plugins dedicated for the iPhone mainly because in the states most people are using iPhone over the Symbian. Sad really because Nokia phones are still the number one deal maker and breaker in the industry and Wordpress should have had something for focused to the rest of the world users who actually uses something else and certainly not iPhone. Anyway, back to the topic and what I am about to publish today will convert your default Nokia symbian menu and settings (not the core settings) to that of the Apple iPhone, thus giving you the looks of the iPhone while letting you use the much better Symbian OS. It is called Symbian Plus and it will “flip and swooop” your default Nokia interface!

When you install this application and restart your smartphone, you will see that the entire screen has changed quite significantly. When you enter the menu you will be presented with the fabulous little iPhone navigation bar with the animated zooming icon menu through which you can access various applications and commands directly. The animation menu depends entirely on your current symbian os edition of course. You also get the 3D sliding effect that you can see in the iPhone 3G version, it is not perfect but it is quite satisfactory considering that this is the very first version of this creative mobile application. There is another similar application in the mobile software and applications market, which I already published in the past, called iPhone style Launcher or iLauncher for Symbian S60 cell phones and handhelds. But Symbian plus is surely more powerful and intuitive than that one.

Symbian Plus also has one nifty thing which I mentioned earlier, the navigation dock bar that actually was Apple’s Mac thing and later ported to the iPhone. You can opt to have a total of seven different applications or functions there each dedicated to something different. By default Symbian Plus assigns the first icon to be settings, the second to be the mobile gaming dedicated pad. The third is assigned for going back to phone and the rest are the internet browser, music, help and refresh buttons respectively. This mobile application also lets you experience the Mobile 2.0 interface with the help of its pop up menu screens. It is really hard to describe it, but once you install it you will know what I meant lol.

Anyway, this symbian mobile application is compatible with a wide variety of Symbian 3rd edition phones including N71, N75, N73, N76, N77, N78, N79, N81, N82, N85, N91, N92, N93, N95, N95 8gb, N96, E50, E51, E65, E71, E66, 5320, 5700, 5800, 6210, 6120, 6121, 6122, 6290, 6500, 8600 Luna and Arte. Garmin Mobile XT | Nokia Smartphones GPS

This is a follow up for my previous post on Garmin GPS XT for Nokia smartphones. That was version 4 and it impressed all of us quite a bit with its ease of use and clear helpful voice navigation. For those of you who do not have a clue what exactly Garmin GPS is, well it is an amazing GPS navigational tool that can track almost any place in the world. Garmin GPS XT for mobile can be used with your mobile phone’s integrated GPS transceiver and even if you do not have a GPS transceiver built in the phone, you can use it! Garmin GPS Mobile XT also lets you use your GPS through a TV out functionality! How cool is that? Woot Woot!

If you fix it up so that you can get the direction when you are driving your car, then Garmin GPS mobile XT will guide you turn by turn with a clear voice command and precise 3D maps. Even if you miss a turn for some reason, it will automatically readjust the entire navigation and calculate the shortest and most efficient way to reach your destination from the point you are.

You can also use Garmin GPS Mobile XT’s latest version to make calls and navigate at the same time, additionally you will be able to add your points of interests if you like to. This really makes this GPS navigator stand out among the all other that are available in the software market. Remember the post I made about GPS collection for Nokia symbian mobile phones? Well, you can still use them if for any reason you just do not like using the navigation system of Garmin. Garmin does have a huge database of maps and getting maps for Garmin is not really a problem. Just download them and transfer into your memory card and Garmin XT will automatically detect it when you restart your Nokia smartphones.
